Join us in a farm walk and meet all the animals - Clydesdale horses, cows and calves, goats and sheep, chooks and Bandit the Border Collie dog. In winter join us in feeding out hay to the animals.
Take a bush walk in the Passchendaele State Forest which adjoins Shadowbox Farm. You are likely to meet kangaroos, wallabies and beautiful birds. You can follow the remains of the old railway line which was opened by the Prince of Wales in 1919.
Bring your binoculars and go bird watching.
Feed the chickens and collect farm fresh eggs for breakfast.
Help milk the goats and cows in season. We make butter, cheese, yoghurt and ice cream from the milk.
Take a bottle of wine and snacks up to the top of our big rock and watch the sunset over the forest.
Bring your bicycle and go for a ride in the forest, around the farm or down to the local shop for supplies.
Go fossicking for precious stones like smoky quartz, citrine and topaz right on the farm or up the road at Swipers Gully. Get your fossicker's licence at the Blue Topaz Caravan Park.
Eat like royalty - There are wonderful eating places in and around Stanthorpe to drive to. Alternatively let us cook for you. We can provide tasty ploughman's lunches, evening roasts and bbq's of distinction. Please give us a couple of days notice.
Cook yourself a bbq at the end of the day in the grotto by the cottage.
In winter relax by the cottage fire at the end of the day with good company, fine wine and food or a good book or a board game.
Sleep-in undisturbed by neighbourhood noise.
Visit some of the 50 odd wineries in the area open for tastings and wine sales. Drive yourself or we can book you a seat on a winery tour bus which will pick you up at the door.
Explore the National Parks. There are four in fairly close proximity;
Bald Rock boasting Australia's largest exposed granite rock;
Boonoo Boonoo National Park - a nice place for a picnic;
Girraween National Park - bushwalk to landmarks such as the Granite Arch or climb the
Pyramids;
Sundown National Park - a challenging 4wd day trip.
Visit the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery.
Visit the Stanthorpe and District Historical Society Museum.
Visit one of the local markets. There's one on almost every week.
1st Sunday of each month at the Wallangarra Railway station 9am - 1pm.
2nd Sunday of each month Market in the Mountains - Stanthorpe Civic Centre 9am - 1pm
Every Wednesday at the Warwick Pig and Calf Sales and Fruit and Vegetable Markets - There's also a chance of buying books, antiques, collectables you name it.
Cnr Fitzroy and Lyons St. Warwick 9am - 1pm.
Have a game of tennis at the Stanthorpe Tennis Assoc. courts near McGregor Park. BYO racquet and balls. Bookings can be made at the nearby Railway Street store.
Grab a bargain. Garage sales and auction sales can be found almost every weekend in the Stanthorpe Shire. Check the Border Post newspaper for details or ask us.
Escape the heat in summer at the Stanthorpe Swimming Pool.
Visit the berry farms and stock up on jams, preserves, and even berry wines and coulis.
Come between November and March and buy stone fruit, grapes and cherries in season.
Come to the Stanthorpe Agricultural Show which is held at the end of January each year.
Join in the festivities at the Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Festival which is held every second year in March.
Go country at the Stanthorpe Rodeo held at the Stanthorpe Show grounds in early March.
Get involved in the Spring Wine Festival activities held in October each year.
